We made it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame right when it opened. We were in heaven.
After throwing the football at the practice field, we headed in. This museum was spectacular! It was like what I've wanted to see in my own dreams! The first thing we saw was the football card gallery. There was cards from the 1890’s in a glass case. Some of those pieces of cardboard were worth tens of thousands of dollars! There were even rookie card of players like Johnny Unitas from the 1960's. Rookie cards were rare because you didn't know if the player is going to do good in the league. The next exhibit showed how the league evolved. The crew member told us about the person that gave them a Jim Thorpe sweater. The woman said she had used it for a dog bed! The memorabilia was awesome! There was player jerseys of the greatest players in the game. There was a statue of one of the first football players (Top, Middle), Jim Thorpe. It also had a timeline showing how the game of football evolved.
We then went to see one of the films. It was like they were actually there! Joe Namath narrated while great players told us their own stories! There was also coaches in the hologram and they were giving you a pep talk. At the end, we stopped by the Hall Of Fans. There were some crazy people involved with that. After that, we went to see the next film. This film was about last year's Super Bowl, The Chiefs and the 49ers. It was so powerful to see what it takes to get to the championship. It was funny because in the beginning, training camp was horror to the players, but fun for the coaches. We then went to the Super Bowl Gallery, showing all the Super Bowl Stories. There was also a Lombardi trophy in the center of the room. Next, and finally, we went to the sculptures of the hall of fame inductees. I saw some of my favorite Chargers players in there. We had then headed out, wanting to come back to see more. All those artifacts on display, was only 10% of their archives! My brother and I played on the mini football field some more, until our last touchdown. We then were on the road again, taking in the great game of football.
