We were so excited to visit New Orleans, and during COVID especially, it had absolutely nothing to do with the French Quarter. We made an overnight stop at Lake Pontchartrain RV Park in New Orleans to see quite possibly one of the best museums we have ever experienced, The National WWII Museum. Both boys are studying WWII in their history courses so this was especially meaningful. This museum gave us an upfront and personal perspective of the events leading up to the war, the war itself, and the aftermath. This museum tells a powerful story, so that all that visit, understand the price of freedom. We were able to entrench ourselves in an immersive experience of a war that changed the world. We were inspired by the stories of heroism, while our hearts ached over the human tragedies. If you are ever near New Orleans, this is a must see. We needed another full day to take it all in.
