Vegas during a pandemic? Hmmmm...

April 16-17th

Actually, Vegas wasn't our first choice of a place to stay on this trip, but it happened to be a great mid-way point between Grand Canyon and Lake Tahoe. And, it had been ages since the boys had seen the lights on the Las Vegas strip. So, we decided to make a quick stop here and head out the next day.

We stayed close to the strip, but not close enough to walk. Fortunately, we had gotten pretty good at finding oversized vehicle parking for the dually! Turns out that most attractions and garages have oversized parking, and it is usually pretty close to the entrance - bonus. We made two stops, one at the Aquarium at MGM Grand. The second at New York, New York on the strip.

The aquarium was absolutely amazing, and yet another great educational experience for us all. Who knew - an aquarium in Las Vegas! Our budding young Marine Biologist, Cullen, got a kick out of it - especially the 4D Virtual Reality shark simulator where we got to go diving with Sharks and Humpback whales. Mom didn't even get seasick!

The rest of the evening, we took a walk on the wild side of the Vegas strip. In hindsight, this may have been one of the more irresponsible things we did during COVID. Let's just say not everyone was wearing a mask ;-) But, we made it out alive, healthy, and got to see the Bellagio Water Fountain as well as ride the Roller Coaster at NY, NY. We decided against pulling any slots, and left Vegas without so much as a penny in a machine.

Off to our last stop, South Lake Tahoe...
